It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.
First thing I noticed when I moved to New York is that people are always busy, and people that are visiting or just got here take it the wrong way, I remember I was talking with my friend, Maria, explaining that I thought everyone was mean because like people don’t stop to smile or stuff like that while they were walking and she explained that they’re just busy, to not take it personal and omg, she was sooo right. If you need help, they’ll sure help you, of course if they’re not in a hurry, totally opposite to where I was raised, that like people will literally stop what they were doing just to help you.
My point was, its just a huge huge difference, so for example in Colombia we got this cleaning thing as kind of mental peace. It’s your birthday? New Years? You got to clean, for good vibes. Someone is coming? Clean, they left? Clean! It’s just like something we do.
I don’t want people to think this is racist, its just about traditions, like my best friend was trying to do this elf in the shelf for her daughter and she just wasn’t good at it because like its not a Colombian tradition, she was new at it and probably in a year or two, she’ll get better. But if you grow up with certain traditions most likely you’ll be better at it than people who grew up with different traditions. Which is something that I love about New York, you’re always learning different holidays and traditions from EVERYWHERE, that even in the movies weren’t shown.
Why we moved
I moved from Medellin, Colombia to New York and I seriously never thought I would work in the commercial business, but after a little bit more than a year of working in commercial construction, I realized how important the post renovation cleaning was, its what gives life to the project you just made. So after the cleaning is where people see their goal finally materialized, because I mean, after the construction is finished all you see if plastic and dust!
